
The people of Plateau State converged in an atmosphere of joy and thanksgiving to celebrate the well-deserved appointment of Dr. Bernard M. Doro as the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction (FMHAPR). The Minister was hosted to a reception in Abuja, by his kingsmen immediately after his swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Villa, by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria and the diaspora, marking a moment of pride and unity for the Plateau community.
In his heartfelt remarks, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, the newly appointed Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for finding him worthy of the appointment. “My special thanks goes to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who honoured me with this appointment without ever meeting me in person. It is a privilege to be entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing humanitarian affairs and driving poverty reduction efforts in our nation”.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to serve humanity selflessly, calling for unity of purpose among stakeholders and citizens alike.
“I cannot accomplish this task alone. We must come together as one to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. I am here to serve humanity, and everything I do will be directed towards improving the lives of our people”.
In his goodwill message, The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, congratulated the Honourable Minister and commended President Tinubu for recognizing the potentials and capabilities of Plateau citizens by appointing another son of the State to the Federal Executive Council.
“Tonight, we celebrate the saying that what God cannot do does not exist. Dr. Bernard Doro’s story is one of grace, humility, and divine elevation. We are confident that he will bring diligence, excellence, and creativity to his national assignment. As he represents Plateau and Nigeria at large, he deserves our prayers and full support”.
The Governor further reminded the new Minister that his responsibility transcends Plateau State, urging him to uphold the values of justice, fairness, equity, and loyalty to the President and the Nation.
Representing the Paramount Ruler of Irigwe Land, the Waziri Irigwe delivered the goodwill message of His Royal Highness, the Brra Ngwe Irigwe, who expressed joy over the appointment of his son, describing it as a source of pride to the Irigwe Kingdom and the entire Bassa Local Government Area. He extended appreciation to the President for the honour and called for continued prayers for the Minister’s success.
The APC Chairman, United Kingdom, Mr. Tunji, also delivered a goodwill message, expressing confidence in the Minister’s competence and capacity to deliver. “Mr. President has shown good judgment by appointing someone cerebral and capable to be the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. We are confident that under Dr. Doro’s leadership, the dividends of democracy will reach more Nigerians, and Plateau State will continue to stand proud in the Renewed Hope agenda”.
In his own remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee expressed appreciation to all attendees for their solidarity and support, reaffirming their collective commitment to ensuring that the Honourable Minister succeeds in his national assignment. “Plateau people are humane, resilient, and peace-loving. We are confident that with this appointment, our state and our nation will continue to experience the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.
The colourful ceremony, organized by friends and family of Dr. Bernard M. Doro, was graced by dignitaries including Her Excellency, Dame Pauline Tallen, OFR, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State; the Speaker and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Directors and Heads of Agencies of the Humanitarian Ministry. Others include the wife of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who represented her husband; serving and former members of the National Assembly, representatives of the diaspora community from the United Kingdom, Commissioner of Federal Character Commission, Federal Appointees, Commissioners of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation from Edo, Kwara, Katsina, Enugu and Cross – River States, Royal fathers, clergies, among others.
