Police, NAFDAC Partners To Combat Counterfeit Products In Anambra

FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Anambra State Police Command and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have pledged to strengthen their collaboration to tackle the distribution of counterfeit, substandard, and unwholesome products in the state.

The development which was underscored during a courtesy visit by Pharm. Shaba Mohammed, NAFDAC’s South-East Zonal Director, to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, at the State Police Headquarters in Awka, aimed to enhance inter-agency cooperation and discuss strategies to improve public safety.

CP Orutugu assured NAFDAC of the police command’s commitment to supporting their efforts in enforcing relevant laws to safeguard public health and pledged to provide necessary security support during NAFDAC operations in the state.

Both agencies noted the imperative of mitigating the proliferation of counterfeit, substandard, and unwholesome products, which constitute a considerable risk to public health and safety.

In attendance were senior officials from both agencies, including the Deputy Commissioners of Police DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel and DCP Ngozi Ezeabata as well as NAFDAC State Coordinator, Pharm. Louis Madubuattah

The partnership between the Anambra State Police Command and NAFDAC is geared towards ensuring the safety of lives and the quality of products in Anambra and beyond.
