FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The Federal Commissioner representing Ebonyi State in the Federal Character Commission, Barr. Vincent Nduka Nwokpor, has called on youths of Ebonyi State to take full advantage of the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to participate actively so the state can fully utilize its fair share in federal opportunities.
Barr. Nwokpor made the call while monitoring the ongoing recruitment exercise, stressing that Ebonyi youths must be deliberate and visible in national affairs in order to avoid complaints of marginalization in the future. According to him, the recruitment exercise offers a strategic opportunity for qualified youths from the state to secure positions in a critical national institution while contributing to the security and stability of the country.
He further noted that the recruitment drive forms part of the broader efforts by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to strengthen the nation’s security architecture under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The Commissioner described President Tinubu as a special gift to the nation, particularly for appointing Hon. (Mrs.) Omidiran to lead the 5th Commission of the Federal Character Commission.
Barr. Nwokpor described the Commission’s Chairperson as a consummate and seasoned politician, a detribalized Nigerian with remarkable capacity and candor, noting that her leadership has brought renewed professionalism and dedication to the Commission. He also commended the overall composition of the Commission, describing its members as tested and trusted technocrats and professionals committed to upholding national unity and fairness.
The Commissioner equally expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for finding him worthy to represent the state at the Federal Character Commission. He praised the Governor’s leadership and commitment to ensuring that Ebonyi people are adequately represented and empowered within the national framework.
Speaking on the role of the Commission, Barr. Nwokpor explained that the Federal Character Commission operates on the tripod of justice, equity and fairness, ensuring that every Nigerian child is given equal opportunity irrespective of state of origin, ethnicity, culture or religion. He added that the Commission’s monitoring and oversight of the police recruitment exercise is aimed at ensuring that merit, equity and fairness are not compromised in the selection process.
He assured that the Commission will continue to work diligently to protect the interests of all states, including Ebonyi, by ensuring strict compliance with the federal character principle in national recruitment and appointments.
Barr. Nwokpor therefore urged Ebonyi youths not to allow the opportunity presented by the ongoing police recruitment exercise to pass them by, stressing that active participation is the surest way for the state to claim its rightful place in federal institutions.
He reiterated that with sustained cooperation between the Federal Character Commission, the Federal Government and the Ebonyi State Government, the ideals of justice, equity and fairness will continue to guide national development and strengthen the unity of Nigeria.
