Presidency Servicom Inaugurates Tetfund Parastatal Servicom Committee

The National Coordinator / CEO SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, has inaugurated the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) Parastatal SERVICOM Committee during the course of the week.

The National Coordinator in her inaugural keynote presentation said that the inauguration of the Parastatal SERVICOM Committee marks a critical step in SERVICOM’s attempt to sustain the Service delivery initiative in TETFUND.

According to her, it is important to note the efforts management of the fund is making towards entrenching the culture of continuous improvement in delivering quality and timely services to Nigerians. In addition to that she said; such commitments and enthusiasm as demonstrated should be sustained for the Service Delivery initiative to make impacts in the Fund and add value to the Renewed Hope agenda of the Federal Government.

Furthermore, she said that services are what we offer ourselves for and service is what the people are entitled to expect from us. To this end, she mentioned that the primary purpose of Government is to improve quality of life of citizens.

TETFUND was established to provide and maintain essential physical infrastructure for teaching and learning, for the provisions of infrastructural material and equipment, and to also provide funds for research and publications in our tertiary institutions, she added.

The National Coordinator reiterated the need for citizens to be more aware of their rights, have better access to information on public services and consequently have higher expectations. With this, she said, SERVICOM is the Government’s solution and answer to poor public service delivery.

The Fund she said, through the parastatal SERVICOM committee must foster collaboration amongst internal departments such as physical infrastructure and units towards ensuring more citizen focused service delivery across the country.

The parastatal SERVICOM Committee (PSC) she explained, is a body of SERVICOM Officers from different departments that network to build relationships for the purpose of acquiring and disseminating information towards citizens focused service delivery.

The core functions of the Parastatal SERVICOM Committee, she further stated, includes Spearheading the funds strategy for improvement of service delivery through SERVICOM compliance and customer’s satisfaction survey, to monitor the implementations of the fund’s service charter and to monitor and evaluate execution of physical infrastructure projects.

Mrs. Akajemeli said that, part of the PSC ‘s duty is to manage the fund’s customer relations policy including providing opportunities for customer’s feedback on services and how funds are disbursed to educational institutions in the country .

She highlighted on the next steps to take which is to solicit for more managements supports for the committee, implementation of the promises stated in the service charter, capacity building for members of the committee to drive the service delivery initiative (SDI) customer service, regular training and retraining of staff on all aspects of service delivery to equip them with prerequisite knowledge skills and attitudes and ensure service improvement.

The National Coordinator further stated that the parastatal service committee members are expected to ensure successful implementation of the promises made in the service charter and to also manage customer experience in accessing services of the fund both internal and external.

In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Architect Sunny Echono, said that the inauguration of the Parastatal SERVICOM Committee is a welcome development. This he said signals TETFUND’s commitment of implementing efficient service delivery functions both internally and externally.

He called on the Committee members to see their roles with a sense of higher responsibilities of improving the quality of services rendered, check gaps in the various Departments and Units and proffer solutions for improvements across board.

He urged them to be good Ambassadors of TETFUND, pledging his commitments and support especially in the area of capacity building and training of the members of the SERVICOM Committee.
