The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu possesses the political will to support reforms aimed at delivering decent, quality, and affordable housing and fostering urban development in the country.

He made this declaration during a recent congratulatory dinner held in his honor by the management of Aso Savings and Loans PLC in Abuja.

Dangiwa emphasized that Nigeria’s housing deficit is a major concern for the current administration and that the president is committed to providing all the necessary resources to address this challenge.

“I am confident that Mr. President, who entrusted me with this assignment, possesses the political will to support us in achieving success. He is an accomplished leader who has consistently demonstrated a passion for impactful service. I am certain that he will provide us with the full support we need to carry out the reforms necessary to provide affordable and decent housing for Nigerians.”

The minister further stated that his experience in the sector has prepared him for the tasks ahead, and he is optimistic that Nigeria will reap the benefits.

“I believe there’s a purpose behind the president’s decision to appoint me to this ministry. I am pleased because this is my area of expertise: real estate, mortgage financing, and housing finance. During my tenure at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, I gained valuable insights, and together we accomplished the goals you may have heard about. Understanding the challenges is crucial in finding solutions. That’s what we achieved at the FMBN, and I am confident we will achieve even greater success here,” he added.

The minister also expressed his intention to leverage the resources of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, the Federal Housing Authority, and the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation to provide affordable mortgage financing and housing options for Nigerians.

Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, the former Governor of Katsina State and a special guest at the event, described Dangiwa as “a symbol of patience, perseverance and consistency”.

Masari expressed confidence that the new minister would conclude his term effectively and build upon his past achievements that led to his appointment.

“Arc. Dangiwa, I hope you will continue to exemplify gentlemanly qualities, and I pray that at the end of your tenure, you will leave a strong legacy. As you step down from your current position, you will be ascending to new heights,” Masari remarked.

Hajiya Risikatu Ladi Ahmed, the Managing Director of Aso Savings and Loans Limited, offered a toast to a successful tenure and expressed her confidence in the minister’s ability to elevate the sector to new heights.

“We are grateful that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria made the right choice, and I have no doubt that you are up to the task,” she stated.

This dinner is one of a series of celebratory visits made by stakeholders in the sector to demonstrate their support for and confidence in the new minister. These visits also signify their commitment to collaborating with him in addressing the various challenges within the housing sector.
