The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) has organised a workshop to boost interpersonal communication skills amongst middle-level officers in the States Public Service.
While declaring the workshop titled -“Transactional Analysis (TA)” open, the Director-General. PSSDC, Dr. Senukon Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison said TA is a tool used to address one’s interaction and communication with the purpose of establishing and reinforcing the idea that each individual is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and personal growth.
Ajose-Harrison said the training will help public servants understand themselves and the people they interact with, just as it will aid the employee’s development and build high performing teams.
The Director-General emphasised that the workshop was designed to enhance effective communication within the public service, saying that “When a manager is equipped with specialised knowledge, he will be able to interact and manage the emotions of different colleagues and stakeholders in the workplace”.
Speaking further, Ajose-Harrison stressed that the workshop would definitely improve interaction among Public Servants, adding that at the end of the training, officers should be able to apply the tools of “Transactional Analysis” to enhance communication and productivity and also manage conflicts.
He, therefore, admonished officers to actively participate in all sessions during the workshop, urging them to ask salient questions.
“Nobody has a monopoly of knowledge and you cannot be the sole repository of knowledge. However, from your repository of knowledge, please share your experience with other members”, he told participants.
