In its bid and commitment towards protecting and improving the health security of people in the country, the Office of the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has requested the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) for up-to-date geospatial maps that would enhance good policy and informed decisions.
In a letter signed by the Special Assistant to the National Coordinator, Abduljabbar Umar, Dr. Sani Aliyu acknowledged the contributions of OSGoF to the COVID-19 Response efforts through the production of appropriate Geospatial Information on the pandemic across the country.
This is in line with the commitment of the Federal Government towards applying geospatial technologies and inputs to addressing social challenges and promotion of synergy among federal Government institutions to ensuring proper development.
The letter dated 28th April, 2020 with the reference: NC/PTF/COVID-19/Vol.I/47 reads, “I wish to further request for the geospatial maps up-to-date as well as bi-weekly submission of these maps to aid the Presidential Task Force in making informed decisions.
The maps are expected to be delivered to the Office of the National Coordinator regularly for onward transmission to the National Pandemic Response Center (NPRC) which is the operational and coordination arm of the task force.
The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Taiwo Samuel Adeniran expressed gladness over such commitment and the synergy needed amongst agencies of the Federal Government to deal with social challenges in the country. He noted the support of the Federal Government towards the promotion of geospatial knowledge and its application.
Surv. Taiwo pledged unflinching support and the commitment of OSGoF in the efforts of rescuing our dear country from the ravaging pandemic.
