Remarks At The Site Visit To The River Kaduna Crossing Of The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (Akk) Gas Pipeline Project, On Friday June 21, 2024
  1. It is a pleasure to be here on this very important visit to the second segment of the Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano Gas Pipeline Project (AKK), to see first-hand the River Kaduna Crossing segment of the pipeline.
  2. The continuation and fast-tracking of this project—Nigeria’s biggest domestic gas pipeline project so far—by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration is a testament to the President’s commitment to the industrialization and economic prosperity of every part of the country.
  3. This AKK project in particular is focused on unleashing the immense economic potential of Northern Nigeria. The gas that will be transported will bring much-needed energy to homes, businesses and industries, and will also be available for enabling transportation, and also bringing down its cost.
  4. We are all aware of the nexus between the economy and security. Much of the security challenges we are dealing with in Northern Nigeria can be resolved by creating jobs and economic prosperity for millions. And what better way of doing large-scale job creation than by focusing on energizing homes, farms and industries?
  5. This will definitely have a massive beneficial impact on the agriculture value chain, which as we all know is the primary driver of the economy of Northern Nigeria. In all, we can all imagine the scale of the transformation that this project will enable when completed.
  6. That is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about: reviving, restoring and revitalizing Hope, through concerted focus and investments in equitable social and economic development.
  7. I am pleased to note that this transformation is happening in every corner of the country. Just last month, three critical gas infrastructure projects were commissioned by Mr. President in the Niger delta region.
  8. Tomorrow, we will visit the Rivers State to see another River Crossing, for yet another transformational gas project, this time the OB3 Pipeline River Niger Crossing Project.
  9. In addition to all of these, we have the landmark Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), which has already attracted in excess of USD 50 million in private investments, towards the establishment of CNG conversion and refueling facilities nationwide.
  10. As we march on in this “Decade of Gas”, we do so confident of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to unleash the full potential of Nigeria’s abundant gas resources, for the benefit of all Nigerians.
  11. Thank you for your kind attention.
  12. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
