In a season defined by sharing, solidarity and renewed purpose, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, fsi, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to welfare of women and families with the Renewed Hope Food Intervention for Women and Families, ensuring that households across communities can celebrate with dignity while laying the foundation for lasting economic empowerment.
Speaking during the intervention held at the FMWASD Headquarters, Abuja where she flagged of distribution of food and non food items, the Minister called on Nigerians to reflect on shared goals—family, health, finances, spirituality—and to act collectively to ensure food reaches those who need it most.
“This is a little from our heart so that, at least, families can cook for their loved ones this Christmas and this season of sharing,” the Minister said.“
According to her, When food is available to us, it must go around to the right people—not kept in stores.
The Minister expressed gratitude to partners and supporters, including the Federal Ministry of Works, Nigeria Custom Service and the Federal Ministry of Finance, while assuring potential beneficiaries that distribution would continue beyond the festive season.
“As more comes, even in January, we will still do another round of sharing,” noting that together, much have been achieved in a short time.
Emphasizing unity and women’s collective strength, the Minister declared that women’s cohesion is already yielding tangible national outcomes.
“Our unity is translating into results. Women must speak with one voice, amplify the President’s commitment, and ensure women are intentionally included at decision-making tables—because stronger tables build a stronger nation,” she said.

Hajiya Imaan declared that government programmes are not spectator events; participate, add value, and benefit.”
“This Ministry is the Ministry for Nation Building. Our role must be active, not passive. 2026 will require more sacrifice—but I pray for a peaceful, prosperous and empowering year for Nigeria,” the Minister concluded, wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a fulfilled New Year.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye, welcomed stakeholders and celebrated Nigerian women, describing the Ministry as a global champion for women, children and families.
“It is a thing of joy to stand here celebrating women of Nigeria and a Minister who is a champion of champions,” she said. She stressed the importance of education saying “If a child is not educated, Nigeria cannot be developed. We must uphold education and end gender-based violence everywhere.”

“We will ensure that every woman and every child is properly catered for—advancing the SDGs, Nigeria’s Sustainability Plan, and the African Union Agenda. Please continue to pray for the Honourable Minister as she pushes this mandate forward,” he added.
