The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Salihu Aminu Usman has assumed duty.
The Permanent Secretary called for mutual collaboration among staff, agencies and stakeholders within the environment sector.
Salihu emphasised that the ministry cannot operate in isolation, and urged collective effort and teamwork which are central to achieving greater impact and advancing the nation’s environmental development issues.
He assured the staff of his commitment to building a solid foundations laid by his predecessor, with a focus on enhancing staff development, promoting professionalism and prioritising staff welfare.
In his opening remarks, the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Mahmud Adam Kambari described the ministry as one blessed with capable and experienced personnel and urged them to give their support to the incoming Permanent Secretary.
Kambari took the opportunity to also appreciate the management and staff of the ministry for the unalloyed support they gave him while in the ministry and described the management and staff of the ministry as competent, reliable and hardworking.
He called on the management and staff to replicate the same level of cooperation and unalloyed support he enjoyed to his successor to maintain continuity and sustainable progress.
Kambari described his successor as one with high pedigree and amiable character.
Kambari who described the Hon. Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, as a great leader and a mentor anyone could be proud to have, said he really enjoyed his working with him.
In her vote of thanks, the Director, Special Duties, Mrs. Adenopo on behalf of the ministry’s management and staff expressed a profound gratitude to God Almighty who orchestrated the coming of the outgoing Permanent Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Environment at such a time the Ministry needed to chart a better course of management.
She appreciated his mentorship, steadfast leadership and unwavering dedication.
“You have laid a solid foundation and achieved significant milestones that brought the Ministry into the limelight. Your high standard of professionalism and caring attitude permeates the departments and agencies of the ministry. Thank you for being more than a boss,” she remarked.

She pledged the ministry’s readiness and eagerness to continue the progressive journey with him.
Adenopo, assured the incoming Permanent Secretary of the ministry’s full, unalloyed cooperation, dedication and loyalty of the staff.
