Servicom Urges NAIC To Educate Nigerian Farmers On Agricultural Insurance Schemes And Processes

The National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer (NC/CEO) SERVICOM Presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has urged the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) to educate Nigerian Farmers and Agricultural Stakeholders on the importance of agricultural insurance schemes and policies in farmers enrolment with the Corporation.

Akajemeli stated this at the Inauguration /induction of the Parastatal SERVICOM Unit/Committee (PSU/PSC) of Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) in Abuja on Thursday September 19th,2024.

She emphasized that the Corporation should ensure prompt payment of indemnity to insured farmers/clients after having suffered an insured loss.

The NC/CEO explained some of the functions of the PSU/PSC, which includes, spearheading the NAIC’s strategy for improvement of service delivery through SERVICOM compliance such as customer satisfaction survey; monitor the implementation of standards in the Service Charter and managing the customer relations policy including providing opportunities for customer feedback on services.

“The core functions of the PSC she stated, includes instituting a complaints procedure including a grievance redress mechanism such as publicizing contact details of Focal and Complaints Desk Officers at all service windows, and ensuring the promotion of quality assurance and best practices-through peer review mechanism by engaging with other similar institutions, expert or stakeholders in the agricultural insurance field”.

According to her, “Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation through the Parastatals SERVICOM Committee must foster collaboration amongst stakeholders such as farmers, government bodies, financial institutions, cooperatives, agribusinesses, insurance agents and international organizations.

Mrs Akajemeli solicited for more support from Management, urging them to ensure SERVICOM‘s mandate of developing a service charter for the Corporation as this would increase Stakeholders awareness on product, brands and services of the Corporation.

She advised Management of the Corporation to manage customer experience in assessing services for both the internal and external customers, in a timely, fair, transparent and efficient manner.

The National Coordinator said “all hands therefore must be on deck for NAIC to achieve its vision” to be a world class Agricultural Insurance Organization.

In his good will message the Director of Reforms Coordination Service Improvement and Innovation during the Inauguration/induction ceremony said that the SERVICOM Unit of the Corporation when assisted by the inducted Committee is expected to serve as a focal point and support the Managing Director and his team in driving reforms, service improvement and innovation in the Corporation.

In her welcome address the Managing Director/CEO Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Mrs Folashade Joseph, reprinted by the General Manager Underwriting, Mrs. Florence Onwuonokwu said that the reestablishment of the SERVICOM Unit in the Corporation is a significant Milestone in aligning with the Federal Government’s vision of enhancing public service delivery.

She further highlighted some of the crucial steps the Corporation has taken, such as conducting sensitization and awareness training programmes to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge, allocating a dedicated office space equipped with facilities to support the Units activities, developing a comprehensive guideline to govern the operations of the SERVICOM Unit, by ensuring adherence to best practices and continuous improvement.

She also added that the inauguration of the Corporation’s SERVICOM Unit will therefore enhance its capacity to effectively address service delivery issues.

This she said, reflects the Corporation’s collaborative approach to fostering a culture of shared responsibility for service excellence
