The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has applauded the efforts of the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade in turning around the fortunes of the State.
The SGF gave the commendation when Governor Ben Ayade paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He said that Cross River State has been witnessing a remarkable infrastructural development since his assumption in office. In his words:
“He has always been a progressive. If you follow his trend as a PDP Governor, he always has progressive ideas and I believe that he will take Cross River state to greater heights. I had the privilege of visiting Calabar about two years ago, I saw a demonstration of everything that he had said here. And I went to the Rice Seedling factory, the garbage factory, I saw the work that has been done there. I went to the poultry factory and the hub of the industrial estate inside the city of Calabar and I believe that it’s just the way to go”.
He further said that the Federal Government will support the state government in facilitating the growth of the micro, small andmedium enterprise in providing job opportunities to the teeming youths in line with President Buhari’s agenda of lifting 100 hundred million Nigerians out of poverty.
The SGF assured the governor that the Federal Government will partner with the state government to bring to fruition the Super Highway Project which would go a long way to boost the nation’s infrastructural development.
Earlier, the executive Governor of Cross River state, Prof. Ben Ayade said the essence of his visit was to share ideas on issues that would move the state forward. He used the opportunity to abreast the SGF of the developmental strides of his administration.
The governor said that his administration has keyed into the Presidential Initiative on Rice by repositioning the agro-allied industry through the establishment of rice and seedlings factory which has given a boost to rice production and reduceunemployment among the youths of the State.
He informed the SGF of the rationale behind the Super Highway Project, which according to him, would facilitate export of mineral resources from the southern part of the country and vice versa to other part of the world. He used the opportunity to solicit the support of the federal government in bringing the project to fruition.
