FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The Governor of Enonyi State Francis Nwifuru and Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), today conducted a joint inspection of the President Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Centre at David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Uburu.
The inspection team, which included the Chief Medical Director of DUFUTH, Professor Uzoma Agwu, and the Vice Chancellor of DUFUHS, Professor Jesse Uneke, toured the 100-bed facility, constructed through the SDGs initiative and handed over to the hospital by the Federal Government in January 2023.
During the visit, Governor Nwifuru and Princess Orelope-Adefulire identified areas for improvement and pledged to undertake minor renovation work and repairs, including painting and landscaping within the next two months.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of DUFUTH, Mr Agwu Nwogo also confirmed that the team promised to construct a brand-new doctor’s quarters to complement the existing accommodation within the facility.
The team inspected the operating theatre, recovery rooms, consultation units, and other strategic areas, taking stock of the equipment and services provided and areas in need of attention.
The duo expressed their commitment to enhancing the centre’s infrastructure and services.
The Mother and Child Care Centre is a vital healthcare facility serving the community, with access to quality care across all stages of maternal and child health services for pregnant women, newborns and nursing mothers.
