The Federal Ministry of Arts Culture Tourism and Creative Economy played host to Students of Ugandan Senior Command and STAFF COLLEGE led by Major General George Igumba who are on study tour to Nigeria.
Major General George Igumba leader of the 27 squad of the Ugandan delegation stated that the visit marked a significant milestone in harnessing the bilateral relations that already exists between Nigerian government and Uganda.
According to the General “the students officers who were drawn from Uganda and other African countries were on ground to study variety of issues bordering on Peace International relations cultural relations and security.”
The Honourable Minister Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa represented by the Director Cultural Industries and Heritage Rev. Dr. Ben Anamah welcomed the delegates and expressed happiness for FMACT&CE to be one of the locations the delegates chose for their study tour. Dr Anamah remarked “as a Ministry it is our mandate to present preserve and promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage in-line with President Tinubu”s Renewed Hope Agenda”.
He further stated “The relationship between Nigeria and Uganda is one of cooperation mutual respect and a shared commitment to regional and International development. We have a long standing relationship that dates back to the 1960s. Both countries were formerly ruled by Britain and shared similar historical experiences including struggles with religion ethnic and civil crises”.
The climax of the interactions was a paper presentation on the Effect of Colonisation on Cultural Heritage highlighting Nigeria’s history geography tradition and cultural heritage.
