MATTER OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE 

1.Rep. Ahmed Munir moved a motion on the need to regulate the system of the blocked SIM cards due to the non-availability of National Identity Number (NIN), which still works perfectly when the sims are taken beyond the shores of Nigeria and it was seconded by Rep. Chris Azubogu. The motion was voted on and adopted.

MATTER OF PERSONAL EXPLANATION 

 1.Rep. Musa Sarkin’Adar rose on a matter of personal explanation as the leader of the Northern caucus of Honorable Members to clear the air on rumours making the rounds that Honorable Members of the northern extraction are intending to impeach the Speaker of the House on the ground on the proposed Waterways Bill. He stressed that the northern members are united with their southern counterparts and with the leadership of the House under Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila. He referred the matter to the House Committee on Ethics and Privilege to investigate further and unravel the source of the rumours.

12.Need for Extension of the Mandate of the Special Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate the Petroleum Products Subsidy Regime (Pursuant to Order One, Rule1 (2) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives: Rep. Abubakar Hassan Fulata:

Resolution: Extend the mandate of the Ad-hoc Committee on Petroleum Products Subsidy Regime to cover the period of 2013 to 2022 as well as Subsidy Payments and Forex Allocations from 2013 to date. The motion was voted on and adopted.

13.Need to Halt the Proposed Nationwide Ban on Commercial Motorcycles: Rep. Abubakar Makki Yallemen:

Resolution: (i) urge the Federal Government to halt the proposed nationwide ban on Commercial Motorcycles and ensure that adequate palliative measures are put in place before such decisions are implemented; (ii) also urge the Federal Government to restrict the proposed ban to the Local Government Areas where the mining activities or banditry/terrorist activities take place; (iii) Mandate the Committee on Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance. The motion was stepped down by leave of the House.

14.Need to Adopt and Implement the “Silencing the Guns” Road Map: Rep. Ahmed Munir:

Resolution:(i) urge the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fully embrace the report and ensure relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) key into the roadmap;(ii) also urge the office of the National Security Adviser to fully adopt the report and cascade it down to other relevant Security Agencies;(iii) mandate the Committees on National Security and Intelligence and Foreign Affairs to ensure compliance. The motion was voted on and adopted.
