The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva on Tuesday, 9th June, 2020 inaugurated a new board for the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The event which took place at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Towers, Abuja, had in attendance, the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr, Simbi Wabote, some members of the new Board, and a handful of Journalists.
In the new arrangement, the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Chief Sylva will serve as the Chairman of the Board while the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote serves as Secretary.
In his address to the new Board, Chief Sylva implored members to ensure the realization of set goals while supporting all ongoing initiatives and programs as well as laying a solid foundation for upcoming projects.
He commended NCDMB for its giant strides at ensuring Local Content in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry since it was birthed in 2010.
The Minister enumerated some of the achievements of NCDMB to include; more than 8,000 Service Providers, over 60 operating companies registered on the NCDMB JQS (Joint Qualification System) portal, and an ultra-modern headquarter of NCDMB in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State among others.
Members of the new NCDMB Governing Council include Mrs. Peace Oyanbo Owei, representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Sarki Auwalu, representing the Department of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Farouk Sa’id, representing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Olorundare Thomas, representing National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and Mr. Nicolas Odinuwe, representing the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).
The new board will serve a four-year tenure.
