The Honorable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman OON SAN has pledged to spearhead a profound transformation within Nigeria’s Education sector. Aligning closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration’s strategic vision, the Minister emphasized the urgent need for innovative methodologies, particularly in skill development, to redefine the Nation’s Educational landscape.

The announcement followed the reception of comprehensive reports from two vital committees, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s Educational journey. The Adhoc Committee on Assessment Review of TeTfund Centers of Excellence in Twelve Nigerian Universities and The Advisory Committee on Operationalization of TeTfund Skills Development Special Intervention submitted their findings to the Minister in Abuja.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of these reports, Tahir underscored their importance in steering a significant shift in the Education sector. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to diversifying learning approaches and highlighted proactive measures aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s Educational trajectory.

He stressed that the days of receiving reports without action are over. He assured that the recommendations would be swiftly implemented, emphasizing the merit-based disbursement of funds to Centers. Each Center must demonstrate its worthiness and meet performance expectations to sustain ongoing funding.

In his remark Executive Secretary TETfund Arc Sunny S T Echono said that the presentation of the report marks a significant milestone in the the present administration efforts to enhance the quality of Tertiary Education in Nigeria and underscored the Government’s commitment to promoting research, innovation, and human capital development in the Country.

Professor Oyewo Tomari, Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, aligned the transformative impact of the recommendations on both Centers and human capital development. He encouraged the Centers to provide more valuable training and capacity-building opportunities contributing to Infrastructure Development, enriching the Research and Learning environment in Universities.

Likewise, Professor Idris Bugaje, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Operationalization of TeTfund Skills Development and Special Intervention, highlighted the thoroughness and comprehensiveness of their report aimed at bolstering skills Education across the country.
The Ministry of Education remains steadfast in its commitment to actualizing these recommendations, promising swift action to usher in an era of enhanced Educational quality and outcomes in Nigeria.
