The Nigeria Customs and Police Force Promise A Strengthened Collaboration to Boost Security in the Oyo State Area

FIC Report (Oyo State) – The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Police have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening a collaboration aimed at improving national security in the Oyo State security area.

This commitment was given by the two paramilitary agencies when the Acting Comptroller of Customs in charge of the Service’s Oyo/Osun Area Command, Mr. Moses Adewole, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Mr. Femi Haruna, on Friday 5th February, 2026.

The Commissioner of Police, who described the Nigeria Customs Service as a key stakeholder in national security, said that the particular ability of Customs in border protection and the fight against the influx and distribution of illicit goods that pose serious risks to public health and safety, makes the agency a crucial partner in fighting crimes in the country.

Haruna assured the Acting Area Controller of the Police Command’s continued support and readiness to sustain inter-agency cooperation in the interest of peace and security.

The police commissioner stressed that effective security operations require strong synergy among security agencies, noting that no single agency can operate successfully in isolation.

He urged both organisations to deepen unity and coordination in their collective effort to safeguard lives, property and national assets.

Responding, the Acting Comptroller of Customs, Moses Adewole, expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Police Command for the warm reception and the long-standing cordial relationship between the two sister agencies.

He said the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force have, over the years, maintained a mutually beneficial partnership that has contributed to operational successes and improved security across the region.

Adewole also sought the continued cooperation of the Police, especially in areas of joint operations and intelligence sharing.

He reaffirmed his commitment to building on the existing institutional relationship between both agencies to advance their shared mandate of protecting society and ensuring economic stability.
