The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs Beatrice Jedi-Agba Wednesday reiterated that those who have laboured in service of the nation deserved to be appreciated, respected, and celebrated.
Jedi-Agba stated this in Abuja at the year 2025, retirees sent-forth ceremony held in honour of retired staff of the Ministry.
Delivering her address at the ceremony, the Perm Sec said it reflected the Ministry’s enduring commitment to recognising and honouring faithful service in line with the principles of good governance and humane administration that
She told the gathering that their careers exemplified the core values of the Public Service – discipline, integrity, loyalty, professionalism, and patriotism through policy formulation, programme implementation, institutional reforms, among others
“It is my honour and privilege to warmly welcome you all to this special ceremony organised by the Ministry to celebrate and honour our distinguished 2025 retirees, which also aligned with Pillar 6 of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25)
“Today’s ceremony is more than a formal event; it is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and recognition of hard work. We are here to acknowledge decades of selfless service, dedication, and commitment rendered by officers who devoted the best years of their lives to the service of the nation
“This ceremony also reflects the Ministry’s enduring commitment to recognising and honouring faithful service. It is in line with the principles of good governance and humane administration that those who have laboured in service of the nation are appreciated, respected, and celebrated
“Distinguished retirees, your careers exemplified the core values of the Public Service – discipline, integrity, loyalty, professionalism, and patriotism through policy formulation, programme implementation, institutional reforms among others
“As we all know retirement is not an end to someone’s career or profession, but a transition into a new phase of life, one that offers opportunities for rest, personal fulfilment, and continued contribution to society in different capacities. While you may have formally exited active service now, your experience, wisdom, and counsel remain invaluable to the public service and the nation at large.” Jedi-Agba said.
She then assured of the Ministry’s readiness for continued collaboration with relevant institutions to ensure that retirement benefits and entitlements are processed with diligence, transparency, and respect for the rights of our retirees.
“Our dear retirees, I say this: Your services has written your names in the institutional history of this Ministry and in the broader narrative of Nigeria’s public service and your immense contributions to the nation will not be forgotten.”She added.
The hallmark of the ceremony was presentation of gifts to the retirees in appreciation of dedicated and selfless service to the government.
