FIC Report (Lagos State) – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a two-day visit to his home state, Lagos, where he’ll unveil key legacy projects of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration. The projects include the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building, and Lagos Multi-Agency Building in Alausa.
Speaking at a press briefing, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, said, “The presence of Mr. President in Lagos at this auspicious occasion further reinforces the strong partnership between the Federal Government and Lagos State. These projects reflect the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to Lagos development and improved living standards of the residents.”
The projects to be commissioned include:
- Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, aimed at easing traffic congestion in the area
- Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, a regenerated school with modern facilities
- Maracana Stadium, comprising 19 mini-football pitches
- Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, Ajah, to improve food distribution
- LAGIS building, providing one-stop access to geospatial mapping and land services
Omotoso highlighted the impact of the projects, saying, “The Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge project was originally conceived over 20 years ago, during the administration of former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu. It was revived and officially flagged off in January 2022 by Governor Sanwo-Olu, making the infrastructure both a legacy project and a continuation of long-term urban planning in Lagos.”
The State Government has put in place security, logistics, and traffic management plans to ensure a smooth visit. Over 500 LASTMA personnel will be deployed to manage traffic during the President’s visit.
“The regenerated Tolu Schools complex is now an all-inclusive school where no child will be left behind,” Omotoso said, adding that the schools will bring learning closer to pupils and improve attendance and learning outcomes.
The visit is expected to highlight the importance of continuity in governance and visionary leadership in driving development.
