KATSINA – (FIC Katsina Report) – The former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari (Barr)has been appointed as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) in Katsina State.
The report from the Federal Information Centre in Katsina inferred that the Director of Administration and Supplies in the Department of Higher Education, Abubakar Muhammad Bello disclosed this in a statement signed by him in Katsina lately.
“The appointee is an astute academician and politician with outstanding record of performance and achievements. He played a significant role towards the establishment and take off of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, while serving as the Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice in the State,” the report indicated.
“He has so much experience in the University system in Nigeria, as a former Lecturer, Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Law in Bayero University, Kano.
The Special Adviser for the Higher Education Department, Bashir Ruwangodiya (Dr) congratulated the appointee and urged the University community and the general public to accord him the necessary cooperation and support for him to succeed in his assignment.
