The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi, has charged smallholder farmers in Abia State to apply the agency’s agricultural grant with prudence, efficiency, and in line with its intended purpose.

Delivering his message at the flag-off ceremony of the Smallholder Farmers Initiative in Umuahia, the state capital, the CEO represented by Mrs. Fati Abubakar, Head of Programme Development and Implementation stated that the grant reflects a significant investment in the resilience and future of Abia’s farming communities. He noted that the initiative is expected to boost farming practices, increase productivity, improve livelihoods, and drive greater prosperity across the state.

Hon. Abdullahi emphasized that the success of the programme in Abia will not only achieve its immediate objectives but also position the state to benefit from more AUDA-NEPAD interventions in the future. Among the upcoming projects, he highlighted plans to light one million households across Nigeria with solar power.

He further disclosed that a monitoring and evaluation team would soon visit the state to ensure effective implementation and accountability in the use of the grant.
