The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, mni, NPOM has stated that workshop organized by the Ministry to build the capacity of staff and other stakeholders in the sector was timely as it would not only be beneficial to staff and other stakeholders alone, but it would also help in sensitizing the general public in the area of Ease of Doing Business for Industrial Growth and Development in the Country.
Dr. Gwarzo disclosed this while declared opened a workshop with the theme: ‘’Improvement of Business Enabling Environment and Industrial Policy Growth” recently in Ikeja, Lagos State for the South-West Geo-Political Zone of the Country.
The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director, Human Resource Department in the Ministry, Mr. Simon Alabi, explained that the World Bank ranks economies according to how easy it is to start and operate business, urging Nigerians to leverage on that to continue to improve on its ranking in the Ease of Doing Business by providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive for industrial growth and development in the Country.
He stressed that the Ministry will continue to formulate policies that will help create wealth, reduce poverty, and ensure service delivery in a manner that will stimulate the growth of the domestic economy through industrial revolution and contributing to assist President Muhammad Buhari’s Next Level Agenda of lifting 100 Million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.
Dr. Gwarzo reiterated that the outcome of the workshop would help transform the business environment and re-energize the private sector as the engine room for growth of the economy.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Human Resource Department, Mr. Simon Alabi, who represented by the Deputy Director, Training, Mrs. Adeniyi Christie, stated that the Ministry was saddled with responsibility of promoting the Ease of Doing Business (EODB), adding that it’s another giant step geared towards promoting EODB in the Country.
He commended the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, CON, Minister of State, Amb. Mariam Yalwaji Katagum as well as the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo mni, NPOM for organizing the workshop for Staff and other Stakeholders in the sector.
It would be recalled that a similar workshop was held in Keffi, Nasarawa State for the North Central Zone of the country and the same would be replicated in other Geo-Political Zones of the Country.
