World Bank Approves Fund for Community Development in Anambra State

AWKA – (FIC Awka Report) – The General Manager of the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Chudi Muojekwu has announced that the World Bank has approved funds disbursement to ten (10) communities in the first five (5) core poor Local Government Areas of Anambra State for implementation of their Community Development Projects.

According to the report from the Federal Information Centre in Awaka, Anambra State, Chudi Muojekwu revealed this during a two – day training programme organized for Community Project Management Committee Members selected from Anambra East and West Council Areas lately. Adding, the training programme was organised in the auspices of the World Bank for participants from Umueri, Nando, Nsugbe, Enugwu – Aguleri and Umueze-Anam communities.

Muojekwu further mentioned that the actual disbursement will commence in March 2019, noting that any money disbursed must be used for the project approved. He warned that there will be no room for uncompleted micro projects throughout the life – span of the project.

On her part, the Operations Manager of CSDA, Uche Nwaizugbo said that the training was aimed at providing the participants with the requisite knowledge and skills needed for the implementation of their community development projects and community response plans for effective sustenance.

In a lecture titled: “Financial Management” delivered by the Finance & Admin Manager of CSDA, Frances Madubuonu stressed that desalting from proper accountability and transparency will affect other projects negatively.

Some of the participants including the Chairman of Umueze-Anam Community Project Management Committee, Vincent Okafor and Uche Igweze, who is a member of the Nsugbe Community Project Management Committee promised to apply what they have acquired for the benefit of their communities.
