Abuja (Min. of Youth and Sports Devt.) – The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports has assured the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) of its unwavering support to enable it achieve and sustain its set goals and objectives for the growth and development of sports in the country.
The Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare made the declaration at the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Annual General Meeting which held in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
Ably represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Minister asserted that the Ministry had initiated programmes that would address the challenges plaguing our sports infrastructure and performance of our athletes at local and international tournaments.
To this end, the adoption campaign, Mr. Sunday Dare stated, would be launched Monday 16th December, 2019 to officially cement and forge a working public private partnership to arrest decaying sporting facilities like the football pitches of our stadia. The adoption campaign, he noted, would also cover athletes through Philanthropists efforts and corporate organizations.
Responding, the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel profusely expressed the gratitude of the NOC to the Honourable Minister and the Permanent Secretary for the timely completion of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Secretariat Building in the Federal Capital City, Abuja. While acknowledging the zeal and committed efforts of Mr. Sunday Dare, the NOC President presented Plaques of testament to the Hon. Minister and the Permanent Secretary.
