FIC Report (Abia State) – Governor Alex Otti, Labour Party loses LGAs as unknown ZLP pulls massive victories in Abia State Local Government election.

The Zenith Labour Party swept 15 seats of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, while the Young Progressives Congress won Osisioma and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas.

The results were announced by the Chairman, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman, Prof. Chima George.

In a related development,the Abia State Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the newly elected Mayors of the 17 LGAs in the State.

Presenting the Certificates of Return at the ABSIEC headquarters, Umuahia, the Chairman of ABSIEC, Professor George Chima charged the Mayors to align themselves with the good job Governor Alex Otti is doing in the State.

He said that what Abia needs is a holistic representation and good governance.

Prof. Chima noted that the Certificates of Return are the instruments that qualify them to be sworn-in as Mayors of their various LGAs.

He further charged them to work closely with their Deputies for efficient service delivery.

In their responses, the Mayors – elect for Umunneochi LGA, Mr. Sunday Afuruike, that of Ikwuano, Dr. Anthony Nwaubani and Dr. Okereke Ezearu assured they would deliver the dividends of democracy to their people just like Governor Otti is doing.

They appreciated the ABSIEC for conducting a free and fair election and the electorates for voting them.
