ABUJA (BPSR Report) – The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been commended for approving the constitution of a technical committee to assist the National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC), implement the recommendations of the report of Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) deployed at the Council, by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) in 2018.
The commendation was given recently by the Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Mr. D. I. Arabi at the maiden stakeholders Technical Working Committee meeting on the implementation of the recommendations, in Abuja, recently.
Mr. D. I. Arabi stated that the constitution of the Technical Working Committee had become necessary to fast-track the implementation of the report on Self-Assessment Tool deployed at the Council by the Bureau, in collaboration with Department For International Development – Partnership to Engage Reform and Learning (DFID-PERL). He noted that the Office of the Secretary to the Government anxiously awaits the outcome of the Committee’s work.
Speaking earlier, Chioma Itodo of DFID, commended the Director-General, BPSR, for promoting inter-agency collaboration, as it had helped government agencies achieve tangible results in the quality of service delivered to the citizens. She also advised NASC to certify every seed for authentication before usage.
The Director, Human Resources Management, National Agricultural Seed Council, Dr. Salisu Ahmad thanked the Director-General and other stakeholders for their commitment and resilience towards the Council’s implementation of the Self-Assessment Tool, he also commend the inter-agency collaboration, noting that the collaboration was necessary to the implementation of government policies and programmes.
The representative of Galaxy Backbone, Akintayo Ayodele Bamisaye, while responding to requests by the Council for the deployment of ICT infrastructure in the Council, stated that it was imperative for their on-site needs assessment visit to the Council to ascertain the level of intervention necessary in the Council.
On the NASC’s Housing Policy, the DG, BPSR advised the NASC Management to key-in to the Federal Government FISH Housing Policy being managed by OHCSF or other housing schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
