2000 July 16: Between the villages of Ifie-Kporo and Ijala in Delta State, oil pipeline blast killed over hundred (100) people.

2008 July 16: In Rivers State, about thirty (30) armed men in speedboats attacked a navy vessel that was guarding key oil facilities. Three militants, a naval serviceman and a civilian were killed.
