FIC Report (Oyo State) – As the country gears towards the 2027 General Elections, an opposition party in Oyo State, the All Progressives Congress(APC), today launched a mobilisation initiative to drive its resolve to the take power in the state and toward the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening party unity and mobilizing support for the party ahead of the elections next year, the State chapter of the party officially inaugurated the Tinubu Torch Bearer (TTB) initiative in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Mahogany Event Centre in Ibadan, was spearheaded by the Office of the APC National Woman Leader and attracted party stakeholders, women leaders, and supporters from across the state.

The Tinubu Torch Bearer initiative is designed as a grassroots mobilization platform with a mandate to extend its reach to wards and polling units across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. Beyond political engagement, the initiative also seeks to promote women’s empowerment, education, and welfare.

Former First Lady of Oyo State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, who serves as the state matron of the group, described the initiative as a vehicle for progress and party consolidation. She urged members to place the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions.

“The interest of the party is greater than individual interest,” Ajimobi said, charging members to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections regardless of who emerges as the party’s candidates.

She also commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to advancing the welfare and empowerment of women across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Oyo APC Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Opatunde, called on members to embrace all party candidates with loyalty, commitment, and a spirit of unity.

“Under my watch, there will be no laziness or idleness from the state to the local government, ward and unit levels,” Opatunde stated.

She stressed the need to build a sustainable political structure capable of outliving the current administration and sustaining the party’s growth in the state.

In separate goodwill messages, the Oyo APC Chairman, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, alongside prominent party leaders including Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Senator Yunus Akintunde, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Col. Gbenga Adegbola (Rtd.), Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, and Prince Niran Adeyoju, urged members of the group to actively promote the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s electoral prospects in Oyo State.

To facilitate the implementation of its objectives, a 36-member state committee was inaugurated. The committee, which includes representatives of the Hausa community in the state, will coordinate the activities of the initiative across Oyo.

Alhaja Adetunji was formally unveiled as the State Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearer initiative.
