Coal City Games Enugu 2026: NSC Says The Stage Is Set As MOC, LOC Inspect Facilities, Unveil Official Mascot And Logo
The National Sports Commission has assured that all is now set for the National Sports Festival tagged “COAL City Games Enugu 2026”, as the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and Local Organising Committee (LOC) inspect major facilities which culminates with the unveiling of official mascot and logo for the sports festival.
The inspection exercise is critical to the continued and collaborative efforts of the National Sports Commission and the Enugu State Government for the purpose of ensuring that the facilities are of international standard to deliver a successful 23rd National Sports Festival.
The Coal City Games Enugu which will commence on November 27 to December 11, 2026, will bring together young sporting athletes from 36 states and FCT Abuja, to showcase their talents and skills across sports for the competition.
Chairman National Sports Commission Shehu Dikko stated that the Commission and the Enugu State Government have been working together extensively to have a historic sports festival with a better outcome.
“All hands are on deck to deliver a world -class event giving this inspection exercise by the MOC and LOC here in Enugu at all the venues and other infrastructures required for the games.
“Our focus is still tied to grassroots sports development by supporting school children who have the talents and skills we can nurture and train for both local and continental competitions.”
Dikko expressed the Commission’s gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering and continued support giving to the sports sector and Enugu State Government for its level of preparedness.
The Director General of National Sports Commission Hon. Bukola Olopade said all is now ready for another sports festival in Enugu which will witness a remarkable moment in the annals of history.
” I wish to state here without equivocation that we have seen a massive boost and the speed with which Enugu State Government has put in all the levels of preparations to making all facilities ready for the commencement of the National Sports Festival 2026.
“No doubt, the socio-economic impact that these games will bring to Enugu is unimaginable.
“I have already set up my data- collecting team to start collecting data from now”, he mentioned.
The DG who led the team on inspection tour thanked the President for his enablement to ensuring an all -round sports development in the country; Enugu State Government for its level of preparation that has made all the major facilities now set, the MOC and LOC for their painstaking efforts to ensuring all is up to standard.
The Governor of Enugu State who was represented by his Deputy Ifeanyi Ossai, said ” Enugu is ready to deliver a flawless festival that after the event, the media will write about the festival that the state has made the event to a world-class standards.”
The Governor further stressed that all requirements to make the Coal City Games Enugu 2026 successful will not be spared. He thanked the team on inspection and assured NSC lead ship that there will not be any failure.
The three days inspection exercise focused on the training venues, accommodation facilities, transportation of logistics arrangements and other operational requirements for the Games.
