The Minister of Science and Technology, Abdu Bulama (Dr) has admonished Nigerian youths to crave for positive altitudinal change and transformative mindset as they work collectively in the development of the country.
He also said that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is youth-friendly because it always accommodates the interests, aspirations and contributions that are geared towards developing the country technologically.
Abdu Bulama stated this when the delegation of the Northern Youth Vanguard led by its Chairman, Habib Olanipekun paid a courtesy call to his office in Abuja. According to him, the cardinal objectives of the Northern Youth Vanguard are to maintain the peace and unity of the North, particularly and the nation at large. He indicated that supporting government in key areas that project the interest of the youths and suggesting positive ideas that will enhance youth development are truly the essentials for the growth of the country.
“Against the setting of the prevalence of social vices, criminalities, restiveness and insurgency in some parts of the country, we must be transformed in our minds and change our mindsets so as to be useful citizens. Despite the widespread challenges, the government still needs critical mass of youths with patriotic attitude and zeal that will move this nation forward in all spheres of development,” he reiterated.
“The cardinal philosophy of the President’s Transformation Agenda is to create jobs for the youths. The youths should participate fully in governance and in the forth coming general elections.”
He commended the noble cause of the Northern Youth Vanguard whose major preoccupation and collective responsibility is to ensure that Nigeria remains one indivisible and united nation, while calling on them to promote this ideal philosophy at the national level.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Northern Youth Vanguard, Habib Olanipekun said that they were in the Ministry to seek government support to enable them contribute to national development. He added that the youths are ready to participate towards ensuring peaceful conduct of the 2015 polls. He also stressed that they are desirous of obtaining adequate information about government policies and programmes tailored towards youth development.
Habib Olamipekun expressed their commitment and support to government at all times, saying building the youth is to build the nation.
