Insecurity: Defence Minister, Magashi calls for support from Entertainment Industry

The Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi has enjoined the support of the entertainment actors towards education and sensitisation of Nigerians in the bid to achieve total peace in the country.

The Minister who received the National Chairman of the Arewa Film Makers Association, Alh Tukur Kaka, in Ship House, Abuja, noted that with the use of conventional and social media, the Entertainers can achieve public attention for attitudinal change against criminality and social vices.

Gen Magashi further remarked that it is necessary for Entertainers to develop literary devices such as play lets, jingles, short dramas and narratives to caution perpetrators of evil in the land.
“Just as the Military decimate bandits with guns, Entertainers can use the social media as a weapon to influence the psyche of Nigerians across the board to avoid criminality but rather support the efforts of Government to achieve peace and security.” He advised.

He affirmed that the Ministry appreciates the industry for complementing the government in causing public perception of the Military based on optimism and patriotism.

Gen Magashi pointed out that the Ministry and its Agencies is willing to collaborate with Entertainers to broaden Public understanding of the sacrifices being made by the Military, against all odds in order to secure their father land.

The visiting National Chairman of the Arewa Film Makers Association, Alh Tukur Kaka, earlier informed the Minister that their Members who are mostly youths have resolved to embark on Public enlightenment on the fight against insurgency and the need for recalcitrants in the society to have a rethink and to come forward to explore the programs of the government on self reliance.
