AGF receives World Bank Team, calls for support for FG’s reform programmes

ABUJA (OAGF’ Report) – The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris on Thursday May 4, 2017 at the Treasury House Abuja,  met with the World Bank team of financial Management experts lead by the bank’s regional director financial management , Dr. Edward Olowo-okere and the Practice Manager, Washington, Mr. Hisham Waly.

Mr. Ahmed Idris during  the meeting which stressed the need for further collaboration and World Bank support for the economic governance programme in Nigeria, also harped on the need for more support from other development partners  to enable the Federal Government actualise the desired objectives of the Economic Recovery and Growth plan.

The AGF seized the opportunity to provide an appraisal of Nigeria’s implementation of the public financial management reforms initiatives, being undertaken on behalf of the Government by the Office of the Accountant- General of the Federation, under the economic governance and the economic governance and reform programme, which included  IPSAs, GIFMIS, TSA etc.

The World bank expressed satisfaction with the achievements made by the Office of the Accountant –General of the Federation, in the implementation of the public financial management reforms in the country and urged them to sustain the efforts to ensure that public financial management in the country is institutionalized across all tiers of government in order to improve transparency and accountability in the country.

Mr. Olowo-okere, further assured of the World Bank’s commitment in supporting the nation to actualise its economic recovery agenda.
