The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria Princess Gloria Akobundu fsi has applauded the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 25-35% increment in salary of workers, says the move would spur workers to give their best thereby enhancing productivity in work places.
Akobundu made the statement while congratulating workers in her Worker’s Day message to staff of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria and by extension the Nigerian workers.
Akobundu said as Nigerian workers celebrate workers’ Day today, they should double their effort and ensure efficient and effective service delivery in their various work places, adding that by so doing, they can build the Nigeria every one desire.
The CEO explained that the importance of an improved welfare package for Workers cannot be over emphasized as it has a multiplier effect on the overall performance of workers.
She urged the workers to re-double their efforts and repay government kind gesture of salary increase by been regular and punctual to work and put in their best.
On her part, she said the training and re-training of staff of the Agency both locally and internationally has become a culture that has been enshrined into the operations of the Agency adding that it’s a way of improving staff performance.
“Staff training and welfare has been a priority of my administration. Coming from a private sector, I understand the importance of training and I have made it a policy to train and retrain my staff. Looking at our mandate, we have sent staff to various international training and we will continue to do so if we have the means.
“Annually we organize trainings and retreat for staff locally as a way of also improving their capacity and capabilities to deliver and I can tell you, we are benefitting from these trainings as we are seeing the results” Akobundu added.
The CEO equally noted that the AUDA-NEPAD Academy is another step that has been taken to improve workers performance in line with the Civil Service digitalization policies. She said staff are currently undergoing training on how to handle and transmit memo, files and other important documents through electronics means and promised that soon the Agency will transit to electronic transmission of files.
Akobundu pledged that the Agency will continue to embark on activities that promote the interest and welfare of staff, while encouraging the staff to continue to give their best.
