The National Anti Doping Committee with a strong focus on educating athletes on the importance of fair and clean competition with zero tolerance for doping violations has organised a training class for young athletes at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Nigerian sports has overtime borne the unfortunate scars of anti-doping with the positive drug test results of some athletes borne out of ignorance and as such needs to get them informed at the early stage of their sports development.

The project Manager and the Chief Executive Officer, National Anti Doping Committee, Ms. Fadeke Fadeyibi has noted that educating these young athletes provides them with essential anti doping knowledge early as they advance in their sporting career.

She reiterated that through anti doping education, athletes are empowered to resist negative influences and make sound choices and independently decide against drug usage and confidently communicate this stance to their coaches and sports officials.

The highlight of the event is the question and answer session where Miss Jennifer Ehiozibue, a 14-year-old karate athlete representing Delta State who listed and explained all the anti Doping rules and violations won the best candidate of the day and was handsomely rewarded.
