NWDC Seeks Strategic Partnership With Nigeria Police Force To Enhance Security In North-West

……..MD Requests Restoration of Police Orderly and Convoy For Project Monitoring.

………Pledges Support With Infrastructure and Operational Equipment.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, has recently paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Tunji Disu, at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force towards improving security, especially community policing and facilitating development activities across the North-West region.

During the visit, Professor Ma’aji proposed a mutually beneficial partnership between the two institutions. Specifically, he requested the restoration of police convoy attachment to facilitate safe and smooth movement of the MD/CEO and his team, especially during project inspection and monitoring tours across the seven states of the region.

The MD/CEO maintained that the request has become necessary in view of the prevailing security challenges bedeviling the North-West region, which require enhanced security coordination for officials undertaking field assignments.

Professor Ma’aji also hinted on the Commission’s readiness to support the Nigeria Police Force through the provision of critical infrastructure and working tools/equipment to enable the Force to discharge its constitutional responsibilities more effectively in the region.

In his response, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, welcomed the proposal and promised to accord it speedy consideration. He commended the initiative by the NWDC leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of the Police Force to collaborate with development institutions.

The IGP used the opportunity to inform the MD that he directed all Commissioners nationwide to work closely with agencies of government in their respective States and provide the necessary protection that will enable them discharge their mandates effectively. In the same vein, the IGP is saluting the Officers and Men of the Force for their courage, resilience and efforts in confronting the security challenges plaguing the region despite daunting operational constraints.

Both leaders expressed optimism that the proposed partnership will enhance security, improve synergy and accelerate the delivery of developmental projects for the benefit of the people of the North-West.
