The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs Beatrice Jedy-Agba, OON, mni has reiterated government and the ministry readiness to motivate workers and reward excellence in the line of duty.
Agba who stated this at the 2024 Justice Sector Ministerial Award and Recognition Ceremony in Commemoration of Nigerian Public Service held on Friday 13th December, 2024 in Abuja.
The theme of the event is: Educate an Africa fit for 21st century: “Building resilient education systems for Increased access to inclusive, lifelong quality and relevant learning in Africa.”
The ceremony, which is in commemoration of the Nigerian Public Service had all the 58 awarded in attendance.
Giving her opening remarks at the occasion, Jedy-Agba said the initiative is a testament to the ministry collective agreement to reward excellence.
The programme she noted, aligned with the vision of President Bola Tinubu’s administration resolves to raise ethics and culture of Public Service, adding: ” You have all been selected as a result of your commitment
The government according to her place premium on a reform agenda capable of enhancing welfare and celebrate the achievement and culture of hardwork.
She said: “We aimed at fostering a work environment which embodies efficiency, loyalty, dedication commitment, one that is inspiring and can improve socioeconomic growth.
Jedy-Agba, who commended all the agencies for prioritising the effective implementation of their various mandate, assured that the ministry is taking conscious steps to motivate workers further via increased Robe allowance to State counsels, upgrading of staff clinic, establishment of Gym facility, renovation of the auditorium, among others.
Also speaking, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson -Jack OON, mni, described the event as excellent replication of civil service week, saying it is a veritable motivational step for workers.
Represented by Mr Bosun Fasulu, the HCSF added: “This achievement acknowledge the wonderful contribution of recipients.”
A resource person, Dr Abel Enokela, who delivered a paper at the event, told participants that to maintain global relevance and keep pace with the world, workers he reminded must continue to learn.
“As workers, there is always something to learn via social media, skill acquisition, technology, vocation, formal and non-formal education for personal growth,” Enokela added.
Responding on behalf of the award recipients, Mr Felix Ota-Okojie commended the AGF, SGF and the ministry for deeming them fit, saying: “This award will spur further hardworking and dedication to service of fatherland.”
Others who gave a goodwill message at the programme are the NDLEA, NHRC, LAC, Nigerian Copyright Commission, NIALS, Regional Centre for International Commercial arbitration, Nigerian Law School, NAPTIP, the Nigerian Law Reform Commission and other Agencies.
