FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Wife of Anambra State Governor Dr Nonye Soludo has assured to follow up the case of a man in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area who allegedly set his wife on fire, until justice Prevails.
She made this known in Awka after receiving details of the incident from the Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs Mrs Ify Obinabo and her Health counterpart, Dr Afam Obidike.
The victim Mrs Blessing Nwaka a mother of five boys who sustained a third degree burn around her body was rushed to a medical facility in Enugu-ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, where she was pronounced dead around three a.m yesterday.
According to eyewitnesses the victim’s husband, Mr Sunday Nwaka, a middle aged man who, together with their five sons, depended on the wife’s petty business for survival, emptied a can of fuel on the woman setting her on fire immediately over a small family issue.
The alleged Firebug has been taken into custody and would soon face protection.
Mrs Soludo described the incident as evil and gruesome, vowed to see to the end of the case, noting that the present administration takes issues of domestic violence and abuses as serious crimes and anyone found guilty of such offences would never go free.
