……..Calls for Support for All APC Candidates in 2027 General Elections.
The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has called on the people of Adamawa State and Nigerians at large to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 General Elections, citing the administration’s ongoing reforms and efforts towards national development.
Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub made the call during an empowerment programme organised by the Rt. Hon. Yusuf Capt. Buba Support Group for over 1,000 constituents in Faci, within the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency of Adamawa State.
The programme, which he endorsed as part of his commitment to giving back to his people, also served as a platform for mobilising grassroots support for President Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Addressing APC supporters and other beneficiaries, the NTAC Director-General, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his former constituents, noting that the initiative reflected his enduring connection with the people who entrusted him with their mandate.
He pledged to mobilise his political structures and deploy his experience and influence towards strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and electoral prospects across Adamawa State.
He further urged party faithful to support all APC candidates at the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, state assembly and other elective levels, emphasising the importance of collective participation in the democratic process.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, commended the NTAC Director-General for sustaining his relationship with his constituency despite his current national assignment.
Prof. Umar observed that Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub’s continued interventions, despite not seeking elective office at present, demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his people beyond his years in the National Assembly.
He noted that the empowerment initiative, which included cash assistance and other forms of support, reflected a leader who had remained accessible and responsive to the needs of his former constituents.
Also speaking, the representative of the Adamawa State Governor and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, called on APC leaders and supporters across the state to emulate the NTAC Director-General by translating their political influence into effective grassroots engagement.
He urged party leaders to mobilise support within their respective polling units, wards and local government areas ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Other dignitaries at the event included the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Alh. Ahmed Tijjani Galadima; the party’s candidate for Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Comrade Salihu Mustapha, PhD; the APC National Vice-Chairman, North-East Zone, Barr. Idriss Shuaibu; and the Adamawa State APC Chairman, Alh. Hamza Bello Madagali.
Also in attendance were members of the National and State Assemblies representing constituencies across Adamawa Central, including Rt. Hon. James Barka of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency; Hon. Wakili Aliyu Boya of Fufore/Song Federal Constituency; Rufa’i Umar of Gombi State Constituency; and Hon. John Alaba of Uba Gaya State Constituency.
A major highlight of the programme was the presentation of cash grants ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦100,000 to 565 APC supporters drawn from the 22 wards of the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency.
According to the organisers, more than 500 additional supporters received various forms of assistance, bringing the total number of participants and beneficiaries covered by the initiative to over 1,000.
The intervention also extended beyond the empowerment programme. A day earlier, assistance had been provided to individuals and communities affected by insurgent attacks, as well as those contributing to efforts to address insecurity in the area. Beneficiaries included former constituents affected by recent attacks in communities around Garaha-Dutse, Lhar, Bunya and other locations.
The initiative underscores Rt. Hon. Buba Yakub’s continued engagement with his former constituency through community support and grassroots mobilisation, while highlighting the role of sustained engagement in strengthening community welfare and political participation ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
