FIC Report (Abia State) – The Abia State First Lady, Mrs. Otti has thanked the wife of the president for her exceptional leadership and vision in driving the Agricultural Support Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Speaking at the Agricultural support programme held at the Umuahia North LGA, the wife of the governor stated that the program was carefully structured around strategic pillars designed to address key challenges within the agricultural sector.
She said that the completion of the groundbreaking Agricultural Support and Training program as an initiative embodies our unwavering commitment to empowering women and young people in agriculture, aligning perfectly with our nation’s agenda to strengthen the agricultural sector and enhance food security.
Mrs Priscillia Otti charged beneficiaries to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to drive innovation, increase productivity, and ensure food security for the state.
Her Excellency said that the starter packs are more than just tools and equipment but also represent hope, opportunity, and empowerment symbolizing our commitment to supporting our farmers and promoting agriculture in our dear state and nation.
She urged the farmers to maximize the opportunity to make a positive impact in their communities as they apply the knowledge and skills gained to drive innovation, increase productivity, and ensure food security for Abia state.
She, however, enjoined them to demonstrate passion for agriculture and desire to make positive impacts in the communities.
The first Lady added that all should join hands to work together in order to build a brighter future for the state, where agriculture thrives, and people prosper.
She pointed out that the training program, which commenced on Monday, March 3, was carefully structured around strategic pillars designed to address key challenges within the agricultural sector.
“Through this program, we have equipped you with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in agriculture. We have provided you with the tools to enhance food sufficiency, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the growth of our local economy. “
“Our comprehensive training covered organic fertilizer production, animal feed production, rice production, pest control, best farming techniques, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), all facilitated by highly qualified experts.”
” I would also like to briefly highlight our ‘Every Home a Garden’ initiative, which aims to ensure food in every home. Home gardens offer numerous benefits, including fresh produce, relaxation, stress relief, and opportunities for education, community building, and economic empowerment.”
“As a wife, mother, and advocate for healthy living, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that home gardens can have on families and communities. From providing a sustainable source of food to fostering a sense of community and cooperation, home gardens have the power to transform lives.”
