…………..Arrest Suspected Armed Robber/Kidnappers And Recover One English Pump Action, Two Locally Made Single Barrel Guns, And One Fabricated Beretta Pistol.

FIC Report (Delta State) – The Delta State Police Command under the leadership of CP. Olufemi Abaniwonda has made further progress in keeping with the CP’s commitment to make Delta State unsafe for criminal elements.

This is demonstrated in the arrest and recovery of AK-47 rifle and forty-four rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition from one Victor Edavwe, the youth President of Ekpan Community.

A press release made available to journalists by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP. Edafe Bright ANIPR, revealed that; “On the 15th of March 2025, at about 1030 hours, the DPO Ekpan Police Station received information that one Victor Edavwe ‘m’ the youth president of Ekpan community was suspected to have recently purchased an AK-47 rifle. The DPO Ekpan division CSP Aliyu Shaba mobilized and led operatives to Shrine Street in Ekpan where the suspect Victor Edavwe was arrested and taken to the Police station for questioning. During the interrogation, suspects gave useful information that corroborated the intelligence earlier gathered and led the operatives to the house of one Efe (surname unknown) A.K.A ‘Eteyomo’ a search was conducted in the premises during which one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses, two daggers and Forty-four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition wrapped in a black sack and concealed on the roof of the sitting room were recovered. The suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

The Command’s statement also stated that in a related operation on the 16th of March 2025 at about 1600hours, the DPO Ekpan Police Station while acting on intelligence gathered on the criminal activities of kidnappers, armed robbers around Jeddo Axis of Okpe LGA, led operatives of Ekpan Police Station and arrested one Endurance Oghoghome ‘m’ aged 38yrs of Umukoro Street, Blessing Oghoghome ‘m’ 46yrs, one Marvellous Dissy ‘m’ aged 43yrs and Jonas Orogho ‘m’ 38yrs.

The suspects upon preliminary investigation, led the policemen to their hideout in Jeddo community and a search warrant was executed on the premises.

During the search one automatic English pump action gun, two locally made single barrel guns, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, one locally made cut-to-size gun, and a live cartridge were recovered. The suspects and exhibit are in custody while investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP. Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the DPO and his men for their dedication and commitment while reiterating that the people of Jeddo community have reached out to the Command appreciating their effort, noting that they can now breathe a sigh of relief due to the arrest of the suspects.
