The NBA Sokoto Branch Women's Forum Pays a Courtesy Visit to the Minister of State for Works

The Honourable Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo, Esq., warmly received a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto Branch, and the NBA Women’s Forum in his office on Tuesday, 29th April, 2025.

In his welcome remarks, the Honourable Minister commended the Association for its unwavering commitment to justice, legal excellence and national development. Describing the NBA Sokoto Branch as his “first family,” he expressed his appreciation for the visit and reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised the administration’s focus on the rule of law, gender inclusion and infrastructure development.

“Women must be given equal opportunities across all sectors, including law, politics, and public service,” the Minister asserted, underscoring the crucial role of women in nation-building and the legal profession.

The meeting fostered a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration with discussions centered on strengthening partnerships, building capacity and advancing shared national goals.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Aishatu Abdullahi Illo, Esq., State Lead of the NBA Women’s Forum, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his leadership and continued support. She emphasised the Forum’s mission to create a more inclusive and empowering environment for female legal practitioners, and its commitment to promoting gender equity, legal reforms, and opportunities for women in Nigeria’s justice system.

Also, Rashidat Mohammed, Esq., Chairperson of the NBA Sokoto State Branch, lauded the Minister’s accessibility and consistent support. She noted that his openness to dialogue and collaboration has significantly strengthened the relationship between the legal community and public institutions, promoting shared goals of justice, accountability, and good governance.

The visit represents a meaningful step towards deepening institutional collaboration between the legal profession and government, as well as affirms a shared vision for justice, equity, and sustainable national development.
