FIC Report (Benue State) – The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, has extended deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his official visit to the state, especially in the aftermath of the tragic killings in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area.
According to a press statement issued on Thursday, June 19, 2025, by Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the governor said President Tinubu’s visit has brought renewed strength and reassurance to the people of Benue in the face of their current hardship and insecurity.
Governor Alia expressed gratitude for the President’s commitment to partner with the State Government to establish a framework for lasting peace and stability. He specifically commended the President’s directive to security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of violence and ensure they face justice.
“We deeply appreciate your commitment to addressing the security challenges we face, particularly your directive to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police,” the Governor noted. “Your decisive action to neutralize the threats posed by armed herders reassures us that our safety and the return of our farmers to their lands are priorities for your administration.”
The statement also conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Imo State Governor, H.E. Hope Uzodinma, for their solidarity visit, describing it as a symbol of unity and shared responsibility for the well-being of Nigerian citizens.
Governor Alia assured the people of Benue that his administration remains resolute in working with all relevant stakeholders to rebuild affected communities and restore normalcy across the state.
