Technical Session of the 5th General Meeting of The National Council on Communication Technology (NCCT) opens in Katsina.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Abdullahi Mashi has said that ICT being an enabler of economic growth and development was envisaged to drive the successful implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) if harnessed effectively and efficiently.

He stated this at the opening ceremony of the technical session of the NCCT, in Katsina, adding that for justice to be done to the theme, “Harnessing ICT as the main tool for driving the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan” it is crucial for the meeting of officials, to carry out robust deliberations and recommend decisions that would translate in policies that would ensure a successful implantation of the ERGP.

The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that the major attraction of this year’s council meeting is the “ICT PEER REVIEW DAY” scheduled for Wednesday, the 22ND November 2017 adding that the event would give states the opportunity to showcase ICT activities in their various states, particularly success stories in their application of ICTs in solving governance and development issues.

Mr. Mashi who is an indigene of the state commended the efforts of His Excellency, Rt.Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Executive Governor of Katsina State and his Officials for “graciously accepting to host this crucial meeting”.

In his welcoming address, the Special Adviser on Science and Technology to the State Governor, Dr. Rabe Nasir, said the state is grateful for the choice of Katsina for this year’s annual general meeting of the NCCT, adding that the state is in the forefront in efforts to facilitate laying basic infrastructures to determine and shape governance and fast track same in the educational institution across the state.

He urged participants to take active participation as the whole country awaits their tangible contributions to further accelerate and entrench the ICT culture in its entire ramification to ensure national cohesion, security and good governance.
