Stakeholders Praise Tinubu’s Developmental Strides in Nasarawa

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Stakeholders in Nasarawa State on Wednesday praised President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s developmental strides in the state just two years after assuming office.

The stakeholders gave commendation in Lafia at a town hall meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation to enlighten the public on the mid-term achievements of the present administration.

Speaking at the event, Ibrahim Tanko, Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, praised the administration of President Tinubu for its impactful projects in the state.

He said that the dualisation of the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi-Enugu road, by the Federal Government has greatly enhanced transportation and commerce.

The Commissioner also said the Federal Government should take over and convert Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital to the University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, as well as the ongoing construction of a bypass from Azuba in Lafia to Akunza.

Tanko also appreciated the president for the full takeover of Kwandere Cargo Airport, Lafia, now renamed Usman Danfodio Airport, Lafia, respectively.

He said that the president is currently constructing the renewed hope housing estate at Azuba community of Lafia, among other things, in different sectors of the economy to better the living conditions of the people.

On his part, Dr Musa Abdullahi, Retired Deputy Director of News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRSC) and Resource Person at the meeting, attributed the developmental strides in the state to the improved allocation from the federation account.

He explained that the president had increased the allocation to the state and local government areas, and they now have resources to impact the lives of the citizenry.

He said that the good image that the state capital of the state presents to the outside world was because of the inclusive policies and programmes of the Federal Government.

The resourced person therefore, expressed appreciation for the president’s commitment to inclusive governance and developmental focus and urged him to sustain and improve on them for the benefit of the people.

Mallam Aminu Liman-Ari, Head of Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in Nasarawa State, explained that the meeting was to interact with members of the public on the policies and programmes of the government.

He explained that the president had embarked on several intervention programmes to boost businesses, bring people out of poverty and better the living standards of the people.

He listed some of the projects to include: dualisation of Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi-Enugu, construction of a bypass from Azuba to Akunza in Lafia, establishment of a Teaching Hospital, takeover of the Airport, and building of 250 housing units in Azuba.

Others are: empowerment of 74,500 small-holding farmers, fertilizers and inputs to boost food production.

He also listed student loan scheme, consumer credit corporation, digital and creative enterprises programme, national youth talent export programme, Nigerian Youth Academy, Nano-Business support, Skill-up Artisans Programme, Compressed Natural Gas, among others.

The meeting had in attendance, youth organizations, market associations, student bodies, civil society organization’s, among others.
