FIC Report (Ondo State) –The sensitization program of the Federal Government for the South-West zone commenced in Akure, Ondo State, on the 19th and 20th of August, 2025.
As part of its core mandate, the Federal Information Centre, Akure, embarked on a rally across major streets within Akure metropolis—particularly the market areas—distributing posters and handbills to sensitize the people of the state. Officials engaged directly with individuals to educate them on key government policies, notably the NELFUND Scheme and the Agricultural Loan Program, which are open for citizens to benefit from.
The program continued with a town hall meeting that brought together stakeholders from different industries, NGOs, federal establishments, and state government officials.
The resource person, Dr. Ajayi Ademola, Head of Department of Crop and Production Technology at the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, delivered a presentation on the agricultural initiatives of the Federal Government. He further highlighted the NELFUND Programme, citing practical examples of students who have benefited from it. He also listed schools in Ondo State that are already fully engaged in the scheme, while encouraging others to take advantage of this laudable opportunity.
Additionally, representatives of LAPO Microfinance Bank enlightened participants on how farmers can access Federal Government loans through their bank.
The event rounded off with a highly engaging question-and-answer session, where participants sought further clarification and requested increased awareness on these initiatives, as many revealed it was their first time hearing about them.
