The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and the Federal Government- Technical Working Group on Sustainable Development and safety net, are to collaborate on the empowerment of women, youth and Children through the proposed Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre.
The two parties showed their interest when the delegation of the FG-TWG delegation paid a courtesy visit on the Honourable Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu in his office in Abuja, on Monday 25th August, 2025.
The leader of the delegation, Executive Director and Project Coordinator, Dr M.A. Ibrahim, mni, said the Team was in the Ministry to intimate the Minister on the proposed Senator Oluremi Tinubu artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre. The Centre is aimed at developing the potentials of exceptionally gifted Nigerian Youths, Women and children and to serve as a world -class incubation centre capable of putting Nigeria into the cutting- edge of AI, Robotics and the global space of emerging technologies.
He said AI and emerging technology are empowering technology. AI is the in thing in every field and a veritable employer of labour across the globe.
The centre will be warehoused in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) which is an e- learning institution. With footprints across Nigeria, the centre can reach and empower people all over the country. According to Ibrahim, the Centre was named in Honourable of the first lady Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu because of her commitment towards human development particularly the empowerment of women, youth and Children.
The centre is made up of 13 members drawn from different institutions and the initiative came with consultation with Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), NOUN and other critical stakeholders. The Ministry was appointed as the line Ministry of the initiative and is a critical partner of the initiative.
He solicited the support and guidance of the Ministry for the project.
The Honourable Minister of State Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, commended the TWG on the project and pledged the Ministry’s support and cooperation towards the project.
