During the week, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa was bestowed with the “Icon of Public Service Reforms Award” by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
The award presentation, which took place on a courtesy call of the association to the Hon. Chairman, was received on his behalf by the Permanent Secretary, Phillip Ebiegho Ndiomu.
In his appreciation speech, Olaopa said that the reforms being initiated in the FCSC were inevitable, as that was the mandate given by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 13th of December 2023, during the inauguration of the FCSC Board.
He informed the students that these reforms are intended to reposition the FCSC capacity to compete with similar organisations all over the world. He emphasised that all hands should be on deck to ensure that the FCSC is moved to what it ought to be from what it used to be.
Olaopa encouraged the students to be patriotic, saying that their input as Gen Zs, who are on the fast lane, is essential to combine with the slow and steady generation for optimum achievement.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team, who doubles as NANS National Public Relations (PRO), Comrade Adeyemi Samson, stated that the visit was a vote of commendation for the visionary, excellent and transformational leadership of the Chairman, Prof. Olaopa, who they see and celebrate as a reformist with purpose.
The highlight of the visit was an exchange of conversation and taking a group photograph on the sideline.
