‎UNGA80 Governor Yusuf Secures School Feeding and Investment Opportunities for Kano

FIC Report (Kano State) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to attracting global partnerships that will boost education, healthcare, and economic growth in the state.

‎Speaking on the outcomes of Kano’s participation at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) High-Level Week in New York, the governor announced new opportunities for school feeding programmes, health interventions, and foreign investments.

‎Governor Yusuf was represented at the global event by the Emir of Kano, His Highness Khalifah Muhammad Sanusi II, PhD, CON, alongside the Director-General of the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (Kan-Invest), Muhammad Naziru Halliru.

‎At the sidelines of UNGA80, Emir Sanusi met with Kenyan entrepreneur Wawira Njiru, founder and CEO of Food4Education, to explore collaboration on school feeding in Kano, including access to African Development Bank (AfDB) funds dedicated to such programmes.

‎Kano’s delegation also featured at the Global Compact: Unstoppable Africa, the Cavista Holdings/Corporate Council on Africa Summit, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Event, where the state’s vast investment potential, healthcare priorities, and human development needs were highlighted to global partners.

‎Governor Yusuf said these engagements demonstrate his administration’s determination to position Kano as Nigeria’s leading investment hub.

‎“Our investment agenda is already yielding results. By building global partnerships, we are strengthening our economy, improving the wellbeing of our people, and laying the foundation for sustainable development,” the governor stated.

‎He disclosed that the state will soon unveil a five-year multi-sectoral investment strategic plan to attract investors, boost revenue, and expand opportunities for Kano people.

‎Governor Yusuf commended the Emir of Kano for representing the state with distinction at UNGA80, noting that his international stature added weight to Kano’s engagements.
