Tarzoor Raises Alarm Over Alleged ₦2 Billion Plot to Destabilize Governor Alia’s Administration

FIC Report (Benue State) – The Benue State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign, His Excellency (Amb.) Terhemen Tarzoor, has raised alarm over an alleged plot by some politicians in the state to destabilize the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Ambassador Tarzoor made the disclosure on Monday, 10th November 2025, during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) House, Makurdi, where he revealed that some politicians of Benue extraction have allegedly mobilized a whopping ₦2 billion to fund a coordinated campaign of falsehood and unrest against the state government.

According to him, credible intelligence indicates that the plan, set to commence on December 1, 2025, involves orchestrated media propaganda, false publications, and frivolous court cases designed to frustrate the governor’s developmental strides and tarnish his image before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We have uncovered a well-orchestrated plot by some politicians who have chosen to work against the interest of Benue and her people. They are scheming to destabilize the administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia,” Tarzoor stated.

He further alleged that two elected National Assembly members have been appointed as spokespersons of the group, with part of the funds earmarked to influence media organizations in Lagos and Abuja to publish unfounded reports against the governor.

Tarzoor also disclosed that the plotters plan to accuse the government of financial impropriety, sabotage key infrastructure projects such as the Makurdi and Gboko underpass projects, and incite youths to stage violent protests across the state.

He alleged that the conspirators intend to flood anti-graft agencies with petitions and file multiple court cases against top officials in an attempt to distract Governor Alia’s administration from delivering its mandate.

Describing the move as “an assault on good governance,” Tarzoor condemned what he termed “ignoble acts by desperate politicians,” warning that the people of Benue would resist any attempt to derail the current administration.

“We know those who contributed the funds and who is holding them. At the right time, we will expose them as enemies of the people of Benue State,” he said.

Tarzoor recalled that the same individuals were behind recent false rumors alleging that Governor Alia was critically ill and flown abroad for treatment.

“That was a senseless lie,” he said. “The governor was in Abuja holding strategic meetings to attract development to Benue.”

Reaffirming his confidence in both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Alia’s people-oriented leadership, Tarzoor declared that their shared vision for development would not be derailed by political distractions.

“President Tinubu and Governor Alia enjoy the overwhelming support of the people. There is no vacancy in Aso Rock or the Benue Government House in 2027,” he stated confidently.

Responding to questions from journalists about his relationship with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Tarzoor emphasized that his alignment with Governor Alia is rooted in patriotism and a shared commitment to the progress of Benue State.

On speculation that he is eyeing an elective position, Tarzoor dismissed the claims as unfounded, citing his long record of service as Majority Whip, Majority Leader, Speaker, Gubernatorial Candidate, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Namibia.

“I have served this state in several capacities. If I choose to contest in the future, I am a bona fide son of Benue and will do so openly. For now, my focus is on supporting President Tinubu and Governor Alia to succeed,” he said.

He also clarified that he was unaware of any alleged demolition of a Tinubu campaign office in Makurdi, stating:

“I am hearing about it for the first time. I am not aware of any such campaign office in existence.”

Tarzoor called on political actors who have held public offices to return home and present their scorecards to the people of Benue, urging unity and collective commitment to development ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, advised all politicians and aspirants to put the unity and progress of the state above personal or political interests.
